16 faculty members played our prototype during soft opening (November 26). We were able to get feedback from the faculty on our product.
Major feedback from the play through:
1. The flash cards need to be fixed: It seems like a bug that no info is present on the card when the lesson book is opened. To address this, we changed the flashcards to always present the definition. We also have added video capabilities on flash cards. Our client Denny is sending us 1-2 minute videos related to our story.
2. UX Polish: need to better guide the player on what is possible to do. We are making the tutorial screen easier to read and understand.
3. Hint System: People had trouble seeing all of the hints. We changed the hint system in the following ways- the screen fades slightly to increased the contrast of the particle effects. The particles are more contained and fade into a smaller point on the collider. The hint button is smaller, but now highlighted.
4. Touch points could be more overtly meaningful: There is information that we give the player which they can see with their eyes… For example, in the first scene when the player clicks on the crying father they see “The man is comforting the woman. He himself is also sad.” We are taking out any of this redundant and boring information.
5. More feedback from the quiz if a player gets an incorrect answer. We still want to give feedback to the player after each answer they give. If they are incorrect, making it more obvious (a clear different state than correct) we think that will help players reflect/slow down when they are learning why they were wrong in their answer.
6. Crash could be even more dramatic. We want to add simple but intense flashes of light to the audio and black screen.
