This week we officially began brainstorming and compiling ideas! As a group, we came up with over 20 ideas and we shared them with our advisor professors and our client, Kaiser Hwang. Here are some of the high concept ideas that we shared: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Ideas : <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Interactions <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Speech Recognition + Text Mining (obey\/react) \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ex. Cozmo would take a picture after hearing \u201ctake a picture\u201d. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Music beats recognition with dancing animations. <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So Cozmo can dance with us. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gesture and facial expression recognition. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">App using frequency influencing Cozmo\u2019s attitude <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bullfight<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuddle? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cozmo mocking you in more exaggerated ways after winning games ex. Breaking the person figure with Cozmo hammer on the screen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mirror interaction? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">laser pointer(Cozmo following laser)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hi5<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feeding cozmo<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Utility <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get live feed of sports matches and react to it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planar Cozmo &#8211; Setting alarm\/telling users about specific times\/tasks\/any information to help them stay organized. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Instagram\/Snapchat integration.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Games <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rock paper scissor <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Crazy mode<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; a crazy Cozmo mode if something doesn\u2019t work out with Cozmo. For ex, if he loses game miserably, he would enter the mode and do crazy movements with crazy expressions on screen with weird sounds. And only way to stop the mode is a specific action such as sayin9-g \u201cGreen tea, peaceful village, santa claus, and blessings\u201d \u00a0&#8211; could turn into game to calm Cozmo<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Games for kids<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: practising math, object\/color recognition, focus enforcer(ex. One sets an activity like \u201creading\u201d and Cozmo is in front of him\/her and enforce the activity by making annoying sounds\/encouragement). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simple games: hide &amp; seek, hot\/cold, blink, statue<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Props \/ Accessories <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Toolkits for Cozmo (eg. sports) \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ex. There can be a small goal attached to Cozmo\u2019s hand(?) and people need to put the small ball to score while Cozmo tries to avoid\/lift the goal.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Miscellaneous <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cozmo feels different mood with different amount of battery left. Ex. when the battery gets low, Cozmo becomes little cranky? \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cozmo gets dizzy if you rotate him really fast. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ballet move &#8211; crazy spinning movements. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Farting Cozmo. Oh yeah. &#8211; No custom sound limitation.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tunable personality. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setting several tunable emotional parameters such as happiness, sadness, fear, and etc. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After our meeting with Kaiser, we realized that our brainstormed ideas had to be categorized in different kinds. Our next step would be to prioritize these ideas based on scope and the goals we want to achieve this semester. Anki wants us to work with our advisors and come up with goals and deliverables as the next step. We would pick ideas and start prototyping next week onwards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, we met with Professor David Touretzky. He is a research professor in the computer science department at CMU. It was interesting to meet him as he is using Cozmo robots to teach his Cognitive Robotics course this semester. We learnt about the capabilities and challenges of using Cozmo to create experiences. David and his TAs are creating some open source tools for people to use with Cozmo. Some of the ones he talked about were:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simple_cli &#8211; A Command Line Interface for the Cozmo SDK<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Event_monitor &#8211; It provides Cozmo event monitoring<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World_viewer &#8211; OpenGL viewer for Cozmo\u2019s world map.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cozmo_fsm &#8211; A Finite State Machine package for Cozmo programming.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Custom Markers (Still in development) &#8211; Using ArUco tags as custom markers and enabling Cozmo to recognise objects other than the cubes and the charger. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on David\u2019s experience with Cozmo\u2019s camera, he shared some valuable insights with us &#8211; Cozmo\u2019s camera does not have a very high resolution and hence, it could be difficult for Cozmo to detect objects further away. Also, His team had found 14 inches as the maximum distance till which Cozmo can detect the cubes. We plan to explore the capabilities of Cozmo in the field of Computer Vision further and hope to create some great experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wizards of Coz has been researching, brainstorming, and getting lot of good inputs through meeting awesome people! Next week our focus will be narrowing down the ideas to plan our semester. We are excited to start developing prototypes and discovering more possibilities of what Cozmo can do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, we divided the roles among ourselves using RACI tool
