{"id":217,"date":"2014-03-16T14:09:02","date_gmt":"2014-03-16T14:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/ursa\/?p=217"},"modified":"2014-05-01T20:05:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-01T20:05:11","slug":"week-8-5-playtest-1-spring-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/ursa\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"Week 9:  Playtest 1 \/ Spring Break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" id=\"docs-internal-guid-8373130b-f05b-3bab-2cae-ac4f5a64037f\">Hello! \u00a0This week we ran our first official playtest and continued to develop our project.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Monday was a big day for us. \u00a0We were all very busy preparing for our first playtest with naive guests. \u00a0We ran two playtests with ten participants in each test. \u00a0We filmed the playtests and had the participants fill out a survey at the end of their test. \u00a0Here is some of the footage that we captured from the test:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><div style=\"width: 700px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-217-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/ursa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Playtest-1.3.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/ursa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Playtest-1.3.mp4\">https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/ursa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Playtest-1.3.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We learned a lot from our playtests. \u00a0Most importantly, we learned that most people thought that our game was fun, but unfortunately we also learned that few fully understood what it was about. \u00a0We had anticipated both of these facts, but it was good to confirm them through external objective testers.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Next week is the Game Developer\u2019s Conference and half of our team will be attending, so we continued to push through Spring Break to get as much done as we could. \u00a0The feedback from our playtest was great, and from that feedback we knew what we needed to do next. \u00a0We finalized the basic story for the game, and Jack began theming our User Interface. \u00a0The tech team began adjusting the back-end of our build to be adaptable for the events that occur in the story of our game.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We have also started preparing for our Halves Presentations. \u00a0With this playtest under our belt, we felt that we were ready to begin creating our presentation. \u00a0Everyone added their part, and once we get back from GDC, we will begin practicing the presentation as well.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Next week, while half of the team is at GDC, the rest of the team will continue to implement and test the story and events in our game. \u00a0We look forward to this next wave of feedback and testing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello! \u00a0This week we ran our first official playtest and continued to develop our project.
