{"id":365,"date":"2020-03-05T20:36:50","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T20:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/theatre-exe\/?p=365"},"modified":"2020-03-05T20:37:01","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T20:37:01","slug":"week-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/theatre-exe\/index.php\/2020\/03\/05\/week-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 8"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Heading into spring break<\/strong>&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re making sure we take a break in spring break but had a team meeting and left ourselves topics to think about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>List of ideas&nbsp;<ul><li>Can any of the problems from immersive theater Sam and Gab suggested to us, be solved by one of our ideas?<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>List of technology<ul><li>We have a better idea of the type of technology that would help facilitate guest agency; we could update or start a new list of technology<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Final article<ul><li>At the end of the semester we plan to write up our process into an article; to prepare for that, we are starting <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1UFsxiyV4r0ZX1hvyGbdAucEj-sAp2QeqDBOeoL9aimM\/edit\">the document<\/a> <em>(permission required)<\/em> now and will add to it throughout the remainder of the semester<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prototyping pipeline<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our pipeline continues and will continue to evolve! Decisions we need to make:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Get feedback before building?&nbsp;<ul><li>It seems like it would help us to get feedback early, when we are at the concept stage, about which ideas are most promising for prototyping.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Start from the narrative?&nbsp;<ul><li>It\u2019s important that the tech does not become like a gimmick &#8211; that is, unnecessary to the narrative or causing the narrative to bend over&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prototyping 2 Feedback<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We weren\u2019t able to meet with Sam and Gab this week, but we got <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1AfCCBVKrgRSTSP_QD_82Ykie9VQvVOtMoiYSpGIiCY4\/edit\">written feedback<\/a> <em>(permission required)<\/em> for prototype 2!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our takeaways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The application for this prototype seems limited because the interaction is on the surface simple and unearned<\/li><li>To provide a powerful moment of agency, guests require more obstacles to finding the hidden information<ul><li>We could potentially address this if we can solve a tech problem, where we need to hide the object completely and only show it in the photo album &#8211; or when it\u2019s printed<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Possibilities lie in what the guests do with the discovered hidden information &#8211; whether they hide it from each other, or if the information contradicted or reinforced the story of a live performer<ul><li>We thought this was brilliant and totally in line with some of the possibilities we thought of, so whether this prototype goes forward or not we\u2019re excited to talk more!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">-Team<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Production<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Halves<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We had our halves presentation today! Click download.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Meetings<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re trying to improve the way we have meetings; we implemented rolling meeting notes with meeting times, attendees and agendas. This method was directly based on what we learned from the ETC\u2019s Production and Leadership course.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long meeting times seemed to be an issue earlier in the project because it has the feel of a lot of effort for no results.
