Sam Turich designs immersive experiences, creates films and plays, and teaches the next generation of artists and filmmakers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He served as creator\/director on large-scale immersive theatre projects with Bricolage Production Company, including\u00a0STRATA<\/em>\u00a0(Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u00a0<\/em>2012 Best Production of the Year),\u00a0OjO\u00a0<\/em>at the La Jolla Playhouse and the Three Rivers Arts Festival (San Diego Union-Tribune\u00a0<\/em>2015 Top Five Production),\u00a0The Ascendants<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0DODO<\/em>\u00a0at the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u00a0<\/em>2017 Top Ten Production). He designed and produced the immersive entry event STUDIO A: IMMERSIVE ENGAGEMENT in 2018. He created his most recent immersive project was DAYLIGHTING THE STREAM on Governors Island in New York City in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam\u2019s short film\u00a0Mombies<\/em>\u00a0was an official selection at film festivals in Europe and the U.S. His first feature,\u00a0Progression<\/em>, screened at festivals across the U.S., and won the Best Feature Award at the Johns Hopkins Film Festival. He was a director of the second season of the Emmy Award-winning\u00a0Daniel Tiger\u2019s Neighborhood<\/em>\u00a0for PBS Kids. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York directing credits include:\u00a0at\u00a0Gotham City Improv Theater and School, Sam created\u00a0Off the Top of Our Heads<\/em>, which won the 6th Big Apple Improv Festival and the title “Best Improv Group in New York.”\u00a0The 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0American Revolution<\/em>,\u00a0Prussia: 1866<\/em>,\u00a0The Magnificent Hour, Insecurity Guards,\u00a0<\/em>Itamar Moses\u2019\u00a0Dorothy & Alice<\/em>.\u00a0Regional directing: Quantum Theatre\u2019s\u00a0Inside Passage<\/em>\u00a0in 2018,\u00a0Yinz\u2019r Scrooged\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0at Bricolage in 2015, Quantum Theatre\u2019s\u00a0Fat Beckett<\/em>\u00a0(Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u00a0<\/em>2011 Top Ten Production), and\u00a0B.U.S.<\/em>\u00a0At the August Wilson Center for African American Culture,\u00a0The Sisters Grey<\/em>. At University of Pittsburgh:\u00a0As You Like It<\/em>,\u00a0Darwin and the Kid<\/em>,\u00a0Shakespeare’s Lovers & Fighters<\/em>,\u00a0Alice<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Tomato Plant Girl<\/em>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He currently serves as Head of Education for Bricolage Production Company, and for seven years he was the resident artist for Quantum Theatre\u2019s education program.\u00a0He has worked as a full-time faculty member in Point Park University\u2019s Cinema Department and the\u00a0University of Pittsburgh in the Theatre Arts Department. He taught at Gotham City Improv Theatre and School, New York Film Academy, Pittsburgh Filmmakers\/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and Rogers\/CAPA.\u00a0Sam is a graduate of\u00a0Columbia University\u00a0and the\u00a0British American Drama Academy.
