Our week In Recall<\/h2>\n

Week 5 was mainly about prepping for quarters.\u00a0As a part of our ETC requirements we have to\u00a0present our progress to the faculty in process called\u00a0quarters. Basically the faculty walk around in groups\u00a0of 3 or 4 and attend 20 minute presentations given\u00a0by the teams. The main function is to get a handle on\u00a0what each team is planning to do and whether or not\u00a0their project is heading in a direction the faculty\u00a0deems reasonable. Its not a graded exercise; the
\npurpose is to give teams feedback and help them plot\u00a0out the rest of their semester.<\/p>\n

Other that we were focused on moving\u00a0forward with our next two categories of testing,\u00a0control and motion.<\/p>\n

What we Accomplished<\/h2>\n

Our quarters presentation went well. After\u00a0checking in with a few faculty members and going\u00a0over the impressions each of the team members had\u00a0we\u2019re going to count this as a win.\u00a0The first objective and one of the most critical\u00a0things to achieve during quarters is to accurately\u00a0communicate what the project is to the faculty. We\u00a0managed to achieve this by displaying the finished\u00a0deliverables in the form of the tests we’ve been\u00a0working on. We had several of these booted up for\u00a0the faculty to try out. This gave them a first hand\u00a0look at the tests we are creating and how we are\u00a0conducting them.\u00a0We also detailed our semester schedule and\u00a0predictions on the number of tests\/prototypes we\u00a0are looking to complete. We supplemented these\u00a0numbers with our definitions of tests and prototypes.\u00a0Tests are smaller Unity executables that help us learn\u00a0about the Oculus Rift. We are planning to have at\u00a0least 14 of these completed. Prototypes are larger\u00a0deliverables and more focused on being a fun and\u00a0unique Oculus Rift mini-game. We plan to have\u00a0somewhere between 5 and 10 of these by the end of\u00a0the semester,\u00a0depending on how in-depth we take\u00a0each one.<\/p>\n

The format we used to present our deliverables.<\/p><\/div>\n

The feedback we’ve received from quarters\u00a0has been positive across the board. Everyone understands\u00a0what we\u2019re trying to do, and agrees with our\u00a0current approach. Beyond that, the faculty was\u00a0pleased with our current progress of 8 finished\u00a0deliverables. In short, we\u2019re headed on the right path.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Next<\/h2>\n

We\u2019re moving into our final week of testing,\u00a0week 6 is the deadline we\u2019ve imposed on ourselves.\u00a0This week we\u2019re focused on finishing the Control and\u00a0Motion Tests and setting up our move onto\u00a0Prototypes.<\/p>\n
