{"id":131,"date":"2018-11-09T23:44:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T23:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/picture-yourself\/?p=131"},"modified":"2018-11-28T06:30:12","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T06:30:12","slug":"picture-yourself-week-eleven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/picture-yourself\/index.php\/2018\/11\/09\/picture-yourself-week-eleven\/","title":{"rendered":"Picture Yourself: Week Eleven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Work This Week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The work this week started with a debrief from ETC Playtest Day last Saturday and ended with our client meeting, giving us a direction for the last third of the semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Playtest Day Results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-132\" src=\"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/picture-yourself\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-09-at-11.30.30-PM-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/picture-yourself\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-09-at-11.30.30-PM-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/picture-yourself\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-09-at-11.30.30-PM.png 632w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Overall, Playtest Day went well for us.\u00a0 Guests understood the core interactions and their suggestions for next steps were close to what we&#8217;re currently designing.\u00a0 Overall, the common findings from Playtest Day were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guests moving too close to the screen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guests wanting feet symbols\/line to know where to stand<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guests having trouble finding their picture \/ wanted it to be bigger \/ highlight user picture<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kinect was too sensitive<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guests liked ideas of archiving famous alumni and featuring them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guests wanted to be able to use avatars<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those uncomfortable taking the photo but who want to participate in information<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From this results, we began work on our core next steps, which include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding <strong>boundaries<\/strong> for where you can stand<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fixing the <strong>sensitivity of the Kinect<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Highlighting the guest picture<\/strong> in some way (so that it&#8217;s easier to find)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Implementing use of <strong>avatars<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Implementing the <strong>\u201cWhere are You From?\u201d<\/strong> Question<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of these, the last bullet point is of our top priority, as our prototype will not be complete until the Question is implemented.\u00a0 The others are additional fixes and polish that are not\u00a0<em>as<\/em> significant, yet still needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Client Meeting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our client meeting reiterated some of these findings.\u00a0 Feedback from this meeting was that conceptually, the idea is continually solid, but it needs a more concrete, understandable, and visible plan on how it would look like upon completion.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, they want to see:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>guest photos be customizable<\/strong> (complete with different CMU backgrounds or potential filters for each picture)<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>UI for how guests send the photos to themselves<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>specifics on how alumni and guest info is shared on the wall<\/strong>.\u00a0 They need to see these details before they begin the process of contacting the alumni network for their info.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>more specific schematic on the layout of our space<\/strong>.\u00a0 They remain a fan of our pitch to use projectors as our display, but they want to see how we intend to lay these projectors out, how we plan to deal with natural light, and any wiring\/electrical means needed for the exhibit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also discussed issues of privacy concerns that have come up.\u00a0 They said that, indeed, they can bring their legal team in on this to implement a fully functional Terms &amp; Conditions page, but, again, <strong>they need to see the specifics<\/strong> of what specific information is being asked of the guests, how this information is being shared, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Going Forward:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Going forward, there is much to do.\u00a0 <strong>We need to finish implementing the Questions<\/strong>, as well as <strong>the last few pages needed on the iPad<\/strong> (i.e. the page where guests can customize their photos, the page where guests can share their photos to themselves).\u00a0 <strong>We also need to figure out how to visualize guest &amp; featured alumni information<\/strong>, and <strong>we need to fix the sensitivity issues on the Kinect.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We also need to <strong>begin our documentation work<\/strong>.\u00a0 The hope is to have a completed prototype, along with the documentation necessary so that our client can take our code, and then be able to customize it and add additional content (i.e. additional questions; additional videos for specific events, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, we need to begin <strong>detailing and outlining every step in the exhibit<\/strong>, and also develop the schematics of the space.\u00a0 Plus, as part of the technical aspects of the documentation, <strong>we need to make sure that a potential vendor can follow our code easily.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s still a lot of work to be done.\u00a0 Now begins the final sprint to do so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Work This Week: The work this week started with a debrief from ETC Playtest Day last Saturday and ended with our client meeting, giving us a direction for the last third of the semester.
