They achieve this through exhibits that are\u00a0based on the philosophy of\u00a0<strong>Play with Real Stuff<\/strong>, where real things and real processes challenge children&#8217;s abilities and help them understand the world we live in, and themselves, better. Children can take off on fantastic flights of imagination and return to earth to build a boat, play in the mud, hammer a nail and change the tire on a car. To accommodate our youngest visitors, each exhibit includes an area with activities designed to meet the developmental needs of infants and toddlers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/digital-dream-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/makeshop1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-195\" title=\"makeshop\" src=\"https:\/\/projects-old.etc.cmu.edu\/digital-dream-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/makeshop1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a title=\"Makeshop Blog\" href=\"http:\/\/makeshoppgh.wordpress.com\/about\/\">MakeShop<\/a> was created through a unique partnership among Children\u2019s Museum of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University\u2019s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Learning in Out-of-School Environments (UPCLOSE). It is a space within the Museum dedicated to nurturing and furthering informal\u00a0learning opportunities and research-based understanding at the intersection of the digital and the physical.
